Our neighbors had a glitter egg dying kit so we made a quick modification and added decoupage glue and our own glitter...it turned out surprisingly well! Here Hailey is "glitterizing" her eggs! Kailee had lost interest (THANKFULLY) at this point and was off playing in the yard! Kailee reminds me of Swiper the Fox from Dora in this picture on the right! I know I already posted this picture but this was the end result of our egg dying...I love that fact that Hailey looks so elegant next to her cheese-ball sister!

Coloring Eggs!
We dyed eggs on the Friday before Easter and while I wished we had remembered to do it the prior weekend before Leevi travelled, the girls still had fun. I surprise myself at my willingness to relinquish control and just let the girls go at it! :) Kailee's own two-year-old touch! :)

Happy Easter 2011
We had a wonderful Easter weekend full of festivities! Too many things to blog about tonight so check back later in the week! I got my new fancy camera in last week (early bday present!) so I had lots of opportunities to practice this weekend (which basically means hundreds of pictures to sort through now!!) Leevi made the 3 hr trip home Saturday night only to turn around and go back Sunday evening but we were so happy to have him here for Easter!
Happy Easter to all from the MacDonalds!

Same Same
While I was looking through old pics on my computer a few months ago for Hailey's 5th birthday I came across many look-alikes of the girls. While Hailey looks like Leevi and Kailee looks more like me it's hard to wonder how they still manage to look so much like each other. Kailee is now the age that Hailey was when Kai was born....crazy because Kailee seems like she's been around forever! It's sad to see her wearing the "big size" of the matching dresses I bought the girls when Kailee was born! I think Kailee is taller than Hailey was at this age because the dresses seem much shorter on her but she definitely doesn't have as much as Hailey did at 2 1/2...I still don't really have to do anything with Kailee's hair except spray it with a little water.

A Childhood Rite of Passage!
Hailey can ride a bike without training wheels!! We knew she could do it; it was just a matter of getting over the fear! :) Within less than 15 minutes of attempts she was off on her own! Now we just need to convince her that she can do this on her big bike (the one she rides to school everyday!)

A Day in France
Last weekend we ventured to France for the day to Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain) and La Volerie des Aigles (Eagle Park). It was barely a two hour drive and a perfect day trip. When we crossed the border we told Hailey that we were in France...she replied, "This doesn't look like France." We asked her what she had expected it to look like and she questioned where all the designer shops were! :) We told her we were going to Kintzheim, France not Paris, France! Hahaha...she's watched "Barbie: A Fashion Fairtytale" a few too many times! :)
At Monkey Mountain the Barbary Macaques roam freely and you are able to hand feed them popcorn!!! Such a cool experience! A path was created for human traffic to follow but the monkeys could wander anywhere.
Of course the baby monkeys were adorable!

Just relaxing!
We left Monkey Mountain and drove just minutes down the mountain to Eagle Park. It's set up at Chateau de Kintzheim, a castle that was built in 1250. They have been performing their Birds of Prey show since 1968. It was quite entertaining and made the 2 hr drive worth while.
Eagle Park video clips...you'll see at the end of the video that Hailey volunteered to let a falcon swoop down and land on her arm. Kailee was all about it and was patiently waiting her turn with her hand raised and a falcon swooped over to us in the stands and we had to duck quickly! :) After that she sat with her hands tucked down between her legs and didn't want to volunteer! :)

Aloha to the Minaudos!
We've already had to say goodbye to one of our first families that we became friends with in Germany. It is very different than in Hawaii where the majority of our friends aren't in the military. This summer will be hard too because most everyone we've become close with will be moving (although we aren't quite sure of our status also...potentially we will have to move by next summer to another location in Germany) We saw the Minaudos everyday either at Dance, Preschool, Library Storytime or just playing out back. The kids love for Leevi to push them on the swing and kick the house and hear him say, "Don't you kick my house!!!" :) Almost 80 degree weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
