Spring Break Part 3

We left San Antonio and headed about 2.5hrs south to Padre Island in Corpus Christi.  The temps were in the low 70's but the sun teased us all day and lots of clouds rolled in.  That didn't stop the kids from getting in the water.  We didn't even have them change into their swimsuits because I didn't think they'd go in (who was I kidding!!!??)  These kids have seen the beaches of the world (Ireland, Spain, Belgium, East coast US and now they can add the Gulf of Mexico!

Once they finally realized that they were cold, we headed into the hotel for hot baths and then a early dinner.  We walked about half a mile to a yummy seafood restaurant on the water.  Luke fell asleep on Leevi's shoulders just as we arrived.  It made for a peaceful dinner and we woke him to eat just as we were finishing.
We walked home along the beach and the kids gathered shells and flowers.
Hailey wanted to pose in front of someone else's sand turtle
We got an ice cream treat back at the hotel!
The next morning was super foggy, but we let the kids play for about 2hrs after breakfast before they had to sit in the car for 4 hours!
We left Corpus and headed just north of Houston to The Woodlands to see some of our great friends from Hawaii, the Ducotes!  It had been 5 years since we last saw them and we hadn't met any of their 3 adorable kids yet!
 Everyone had a blast!!!
Joseph, 4 yrs and Julia, 6 months
 Ella, 2 yrs
 He LOVES babies!
I just love Julia's little smirk!
Luke would only cooperate for the group picture if he could hold Julia!
The next morning we headed to a bounce house place and the kids had a great time!!!!

Lisa and I with all 6 kiddos!
Considering we had 30+ hours in the car to kill over the week, I borrowed a handful of DVD's from a friend, but once we had finished all of those we switched to a Redbox vacation!  We had rented the new Annie one night at a hotel and the kids wanted to watch it again in the car the next day.  Since you can return a Redbox movie ANYWHERE, we let them keep it and we returned it in Houston.  Too fun!!!!!  We also got The Book of Life and Dolphin Tale 2 for the final 8 hrs home!
We left Houston and made our final overnight stop back in Dallas, but stayed with Leevi's other brother, Antoine and his wife Christy.  Leevi's brother's family, aunt and cousin came over also!
The nephews played attack the uncle!!!!
While some serious Mancala was going on in the dining room

They were sooo sweaty!!!!
Helping Aunt Christy feed the birds the next morning...
One more game of Uno before we hit the road!
The kids with Aunt Christy and Uncle Antoine
The final 8 hrs home wasn't bad at all...Kailee had eyeballed these glasses at a rest stop in Oklahoma on the way down and did not stop talking about them the entire week!!!
We got in about 8pm and the kids had packages waiting from my parents.  They wasted no time tearing into the boxes and adding to the unpacking mess! :)

I love that Leevi shares my sense of organization after a long trip and we had everything unpacked and laundry started that night and were able to relax on Sunday before we started back to school and work on Monday!  It was an awesome trip and we definitely couldn't have survived if our kids weren't amazing travelers.  We thought for sure we'd be fighting them to get in the car each day, but we had such fun things planned and awesome people to visit, they didn't mind at all!!!!  Now if only we had one more week to relax....

A video recap of the week...
