Happy Halloween

At the library (with Cinderella and Mickey; Isabella and Noah)
And Batgirl (Andie)
Parade at school

Off to a Halloween party at Isabella's house...it was mild high 50's so we opted for princess dress-up clothes that we had because I didn't want their butterfly costumes to get dirty (and it's a good thing because Kailee was covered in chocolate!)

Sleeping Beauty, Minnie, Flash, Snow White and Mickey
The butterflies with Lilo and Stitch (David and Nora)
Fall Fest at the Chapel
Dinner with the Minaudos and Kents
Off to Trick or Treat...the weather was perfect
Kailee would have stayed here all night (seriously!!) The vampire slowly ducked in and out of his gravestone...I would make the noise "wah ha ha" so now Kailee calls him the "wah ha ha man"
This picture doesn't do justice for the amount of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. The MP's closed the roads down to cars so that was wonderful!!!!
Back home checking out the loot! I didn't realize I had caught Kailee on all of her lollipop glory! This was the only candy she wanted.
We caught her with three at the same time! And when I went to get her undressed at the end of the night she had a sucker stuck to her skin under her costume.
The large pile of candy in the front was Hailey's rejects...she only kept the m&m's, reese cups, hershey bars and kisses. We had so many trick-or-treaters that we just recycled the unwanted candy.

Tidbits from Hailey and Kailee Part I

I haven't decided if I will combine the girls' cute comments or keep them separate but here you go for now...

Two little tidbits from Hailey before I forget them...

Last week and earlier this week it got so cold that I had to scrape frost off my windshield in the mornings before school (thankfully it has warmed back up a bit...cross your fingers that the warmth lingers through Trick-or-Treating!) Hailey got so excited that she could see her breath since it was soooo chilly (31 on my car temp!) and she said, "Look Mom! I can make my own clouds!!!" :)

A few days ago when the sun was deceptively shining outside (still in the upper 40's) Hailey asked if we could go outside to play. I told her that I need to finish the dishes and put the laundry away first. Hailey's response was "Wow, Mom, you are just like Cinderella"

Posing in her spider hat from school

And a few little tidbits from Kailee...

She has now added "Thank you very much" and a bow to the end of each dancing escapade in the kitchen.

When she passes gas instead of saying, "excuse me" she says, "That was me!" :)

Kailee now sings the pee-pee song when Leevi or I use the bathroom "Daddy went pee-pee! Daddy went pee-pee!". She decided to sing to me at the library bathroom today...thankfully we were the only ones in there! :)

And a cheese picture of Kailee who was trying to hog the camera when I took a picture of Hailey in her spider hat.

Oldies...

I was looking through old pictures to be able to post the girls in the years past Halloween costumes and came across these...some are completely random but most have to do with the Fall

Hailey's first Halloween...she was 8 months old in these pictures

Kailee's first Halloween...she was just over 1 month oldHailey's first costume...a bumblebee, but I think the only time she wore it was for this picture.
The year they were Nemos...at the libraryLast year...check out that tan and blonde hair!
And when I was looking for Kailee's 1st pictures I came across these two below...the Snapfish caption read, "Hailey's first hold!" and "She's going to be a great big sister!" Kailee (less than 24 hours old) Hailey 2 1/2yrs
A year later...Kailee 12 months, Hailey 3 1/2yrs

Rothenburg

Rothenburg is a quaint little town less than two hours from our house and it was well worth the drive. Sarah, Rachael, and I (again without children!!!) walked around, had a yummy lunch, and tried to stay warm! Rothenburg is one of the last well preserved walled cities left in Germany. The original construction of the wall began in 1172 and two towers and an arch still remain to this day!!!

The Schneeballen (snowball)! Of course we had to try one...they were everywhere!

Looking out from the walled city to the out-skirts of Rothenburg

Notice the little blue house built on top of an old tower
One of our favorite parts of the city was the Medieval Crime Museum

Some of the torture and death penalty devices were a little difficult to stomach but we got a good laugh out of the "shaming" punishments.
A shame mask for a gossiper...long tongue and big ears!
Two connected neck violins for quarreling women...they were locked together until they made peace!
More iron shame masks
Chasity belts worn by women when their husband was away (it was for their own protection!) :) Or worn when they travelled alone. A replica of a school house...punishments were a wooden donkey to sit on, a log to kneel on, and the well known knuckle/rear end thrashings
I liked this one...it was a wooden rosary that one would have to wear if they fell asleep in church or skipped church
