Burgruine Windeck

The first full day that Rachael and Sarah were here we left Leevi home with the girls (he actually played Mr. Mom for four days in a row which made it sooooo much simpler to get around Germany without the girls; not to mention it was sooooo cold and practically everything we did was outside!) and along with Josh we set out to tour around. These were our guinea pig guests so we could try and figure out how much of Germany we can fit into ones trip. We will definitely add the Windeck Castle especially because it's only 20 minutes from our house! There was also a restaurant and beer garden that was closed during our visit, but it will be worth the trip back next summer to drink a beer outside with an amazing view!

How the castle looked in all of it's glory prior to 1674 when it was destroyed by the French
You should be able to click on the picture to enlarge it and read the info

The last standing tower...we were able to climb all the way to the top

3 guesses as to what that is!!!! A big clue would be to look at the stains on the wall! :)

Underneath looking up...although that wouldn't be something you would have wanted to do back in the day! :)
From the inside... I couldn't resist!!!!!!! And yes, I'm always that happy when I use the bathroom! :)
The BiergartenAfter wandering the castle we headed into Ladenburg to let Sarah and Rachael walk around and then had lunch at Die Kartafal (The Potato!) I had a fabulous potato soup and Josh went for what the restaurant is known for...cooking your own steak on a hot rock at your table!
On a side note, we started the day in Worms but didn't find what I was looking for, yet we did go into the St. Peters Cathedral.
