Hailey's Many Ensembles!!

Hailey loves to accessorize, so I thought I'd post some of her "creations" from the past year or so. She puts these "outfits" together all by herself! This one is from today...I guess she couldn't decide on the crown or the hat, so she chose both!
Here she is wearing the hat and neck collar for the dog's halloween costume!
She put this pull-up on her head and wore it around for quite some time.

Stickers galore!

This one is one of my favorites...this day, she came to me and said she was ready to go to the store...the best part is that one of the lenses is missing from her glasses! My little bag lady!

Another "classic" Hailey outfit...glasses (upside down), cell phone, purse, necklace and an elmo backpack...it's typical that her pants and diaper are missing!

Elmo makes another appearance here along with bedroom slippers, a hat and a hula skirt...she may have even had glasses on. She told us she was going to school.

Are my Pregnant Golfing Days Numbered?

I was given the "go-ahead" by my doctor to continue golfing throughout my pregnancy. So far, with only 8 weeks to go, I'm still able to get out there and swing a club with a reasonable outcome! My accuracy is farely consistant, but I can definitely tell there is a considerable difference in the distance the ball goes. Tiffany was in a golf shop this past week and one of the MALE employees commented on how you should be able to play better when you are pregnant because your center of balance hangs over the ball!!! HA!!! Are you kidding me? I thought, "what a GUY thing to say...obviously he hasn't been pregnant!!!" :) Apparently he doesn't know what its like to swing a club without any stomach muscles!!! Or that your "balance" is the first thing to go when you're pregnant! Men, I swear!!! :)

Needless to say, I am still out there enjoying myself and the fresh air before my world gets turned upside down (again) with a newborn!

Picture is at 32 weeks...8 weeks to go--or less:) or maybe more:(

Too Much Quiet Can Only Mean Trouble!

Why is it that you know there is trouble with a toddler when it gets too quiet?! Hailey is not one to get into too much mischief...we don't really have to worry about her playing with things she shouldn't. Well, she proved me wrong today! Shortly before naptime she told me she wanted to give her baby a bath. I agreed with instructions that she could only pretend and can't turn the water on. She acknowledged and I left her to go tidy up before bedtime. I listened to her talking to her baby and didn't hear the sound of water running, so I thought all was well. My attention was aroused when it became too quiet in the bathroom. As I approached, the smell of Wet and Wild Watermelon gave her away before I could even see the "masterpiece"! Apparently it was my fault for not informing her that the shampoo was also off limits! I peeked around the door to see her smearing the shampoo all over the floor. Since, the damage was already done, I decided to grab my camera to catch her in the act. I said, "Ahhmm" and snapped the picture...if you look closely, you can see the green "slime"! .

Nigh-Night Time

Bedtime for Hailey at the MacDonald house is a pretty consistent routine starting after dinner with a bath (or recently she's wanted to take a shower), a few books, prayers, and then lights out. You'll see in the pics that Leila usually joins her and stays most of the night or she'll move to her bed in our room when we go to bed.

Right now we are "stuck" on the books 'Hop on Pop' and 'Clifford' (when he is a puppy). She'll usually have a favorite for a few weeks. After I finish reading the stories to her, she wants to read them back to me...it's pretty cute because her retelling of the story is pretty accurate. She even sometimes licks her finger to turn the page! Ha!! I guess I do that! And then she ends her book with, "A-men"! :)

The baby is always pretty active at this time...I like to think he/she is already enjoying story-time too, but mostly likely they are just happy that I've eaten dinner! :)

After books, Hailey says her prayers and prays for specific family and friends and then will throw in a random person or thing (like a Backyardigan character, or a doll, or her baby stroller) Always a surprise! :)

Hailey's First Haircut!

We took Hailey last night to a kid's salon to get her first haircut. I didn't want to cut her hair, but the back was getting so ratty...I guess from brushing out those curls! She did great and had fun. The hairdresser cut it a little too short for me, but I guess it really needed it and now it's all evened out and feels so soft. It's just hair...hopefully the cut will help it grow in nice and healthy! The posted pictures are the before...silly me didn't take an after picture while we were there! The "First Haircut Package" came with a card with her "after" picture and her locks of hair in a little bag, so I didn't think about taking one with my own camera. Our scanner is acting up now, but when we get it fixed I guess I can add the pic to the post.

Kids Say the Darnedest Things Part 1

Aren't all 2 yr olds funny? What makes it so humorous is that their thoughts are so innocent. Hailey cracks us up on a daily basis, mostly because we are her parents and think everything she does is witty, precocious, and charming, but some of the stuff she comes up with really is funny! I've got three examples for this post...one from this week which prompted the idea and two memorable ones from a few months ago.

Tale One: Hailey and I usually take our dog, Leila, for a walk before dinner and before Leevi gets home from work. Hailey has recently wanted to walk instead of ride in the stroller which I usually don't mind because why not tire her out a little more before bedtime? This particular day, she decided that on our way back she didn't want to walk anymore. I tried reasoning, threatening, and ignoring her and only gave in when we hit our block and was too embarrassed for the neighbors to hear and see me "neglecting" my daughter! :) Also, before dinner she got upset about something and my long day with a 2 yr old needed to be over and let Daddy take charge! So, that night at dinner, I was sitting there apparently looking exhausted and Hailey asks me, "What's wrong, Momma? What's wrong, Momma? Do you need a break?!" My thoughts were, 'Oh yes, and a drink if I weren't pregnant!!' :)

Tale Two: Sometime right before Hailey turned two, she and I were laying in her bed for a nap. She was restless and talking and wouldn't settle down. I told her "No more talking or I was going to leave the room"...she snuggled over and calmed down. A few minutes later I whispered to her, "I love you!" and she replied, "No talking, Momma." :)

Tale Three: About a month or two before Hailey's second birthday we were driving to a friend's house for a get-together. There is a city dump that we have to pass along the way that always puts out the most unpleasant smells even with the windows up! Leevi and I were have a conversation in the front of the car and Hailey was in the back minding her own business when all of a sudden she pipes up and says, "Daddy, you're stinky!!!" I could only laugh and think he brought that all on himself!!!

Singing in the Rain

Oh to be young again without a care in the world...we had a rare rainshower yesterday mid-day that came down pretty hard, but only up here on the hill where we live. If you drove 4 blocks down it was dry as a bone! It was such a pounding rain like you'd see on the mainland in the summer, but without the thunder and lightning. At this time of the year, we usually only get rain sometimes at night. Hailey was excited to see it, so I figured why not let her have a little fun!

ALOHA

Aloha! So, I've been told that this shouldn't be too difficult! Hailey is at such a fun age, it'd be a shame not to share it! We'll see how long I can keep this up after the new baby comes in September!

Hailey brings such joy to our lives, it's hard to imagine how complete we'll be with another one! She's very excited to be a big sister and tells me how she'll help change the diapers, give the baby a bath, and put them to sleep. Of course, she's has tons of practice with her baby dolls, so I guess she's the expert! We don't know the gender of the baby (we were surprised with Hailey too), but Hailey always says it's a boy baby when asked, yet when we ask her if she wants a brother or a sister, she always says sister! Leevi and I both think it's a girl. I suppose it'd be "ideal" to have one of each, but it'd also be pretty simple to have another girl since we have all the clothes and toys! I'm done regardless of the gender...Leevi might have a different answer if it's another girl...although I'm sure he'd secretly be happy with 5 girls who melt his heart!

I need to also add that we have the most loving dog, Leila, who is 4 1/2! She's our first baby and a wonderful big sister to Hailey.
