Professional Pics...

Our professional portraits came in today! Apparently we have a pretty crappy scanner because the quality of the print is definitely better than what you see, but I'm sure you get the point. I'm really tempted to take the girls again in their adorable Easter dresses but I'll really have to do some prep work on Hailey to avoid another meltdown...thought the pic of the girls together turned out pretty well considering Hailey's state of mind 5 minutes prior! :)

The girls are facing each other because a.)Hailey was being a pain! and b.)because Kailee was arching backwards on purpose and Hailey was scared that Kailee was going to push her off the table (I was actually a little scared for her too!) :)

Worms and Barf

I thought we had two girls and I wouldn't have to deal with worms (I guess all babies barf, so Kailee really isn't to blame!), but worms??!!! Uggh! Hailey spent the afternoon collecting dried, dead worms (yes, I made sure she washed her hands afterwards)...the picture doesn't show nearly the final amount that she found and then buried in the rocks in front of our house.

I thought the barf pic was pretty cool though...Kailee just happened to spit up right when I snapped the picture.

Ahhhh....The Spa!!!!

I'm loving Spring Break! We've been really busy doing extra special things for Hailey, so it was my turn today! I've been holding onto a Ko'Olina Spa (A Marriott resort very close to our house) gift certificate for close to a year now. I got it for my birthday last May from some very close family friends and was waiting until I wasn't pregnant to use it...then it became too hectic with the girls and many visitors before Leevi deployed and I never got around to going. I almost thought to squeeze it in in early January while Leevi was still here, but then thought I'd probably need the relaxation the most after he left! True!! So the girls went to Steph's this morning to play with Gavin (Hailey was so excited!) and I went to the spa! For those of you who live here I'd HIGHLY recommend the Scrub Bar treatment...it was an hour of a full body exfoliation, water jets, a needle shower, a dry off in the sauna, and then a lotion rehydration massage!!!! A PERFECT birthday or Mother's Day present!!! ;)

The Big Girl Part III

This time the big girl isn't Kailee, but it's Hailey. We've had quite a few firsts in our house over the past week or so but this one takes the cake...Hailey has given up her pacifier!!!!!! Her wawa, as she dubbed it at 22 months old, is no more! We have talked about it forever , but always made excuses for timing...too close to the new baby coming, too soon after Kailee being born, too soon before/after Leevi deployed, etc, etc. I have always been pretty particular about her only using it during bedtime or in the car. Even now, Kailee only has it up in her crib or when we go on a walk or in the car. Hailey kind of went through stages of asking for it more often or sneaking it downstairs occasionally. Here she is caught in the act about a month ago...it was like I busted her smoking out back! :)

We've talked about it a lot since she turned 3 and her reply would always be, "I don't want to grow up. I want to be little like Kailee." My intent was to be done with it over Spring Break where if we had some rough nights I wouldn't have to worry about working the next day. Finally, on Thursday when she was whining about falling down and claiming that her wawa would make her feel better, I said it's gone...no more and that that night she wouldn't have it to go to bed....oh the tears came!!! I got Kailee down for a nap and then Hailey and I read some books in her room and talked about not needing it anymore. She insisted she did. I was prepared for the worst when bedtime came and to my astonishment she just went to sleep!!! We read a book like usual, turned out the lights, said her prayers and that was it! I couldn't believe it...she didn't even ask for it; no tears, nothing. I take that back...she did say something funny: "I need my wawa to keep my lips warm!" :) Nice try! :) I laid there with her like I normally do and within 5 minutes she was out. Then the tears started to flow...not from her, but from me! :( I sat there watching her sleep and couldn't believe how big she has gotten...I'm sure I was sad because Leevi wasn't here, but I think I was more sad because she didn't cry. She was fine. She was a big girl now. It was too easy.

And that was it...she hasn't even asked for it once. Not through the night, not the next day, not the next night, nothing. It's too weird. It's like it never existed! Kailee's wawas are easily accessible, but no attempts. She's done. The first night I told her I would take her to the store the next day if she didn't use her wawa and she could pick out anything she wanted. She said she wanted a dog (stuffed animal) to be friends with the cat she had gotten earlier that week with a birthday gift card. We went to Target that next day and she wandered the toy aisle with basically free reign to pick anything she wanted (within reason!) but she stayed true to her wishes and picked out a pink poodle. The best thing was that it only cost $5! :) She named the dog Missy and the cat Tasha...

Still playing catch up...

We've had so many recent events and I'm so far behind on blogging about them. The girls have had a few playdates with the Stampfer kids and we've celebrated Rylee's 2nd birthday twice...her party at the Train Station in Ewa and on her actual bday at Chuck E Cheese. Hailey and I also went to Leapin Lizards bounce house place with Steph and Gavin. Each probably deserve their own individual post, but I'm too tired, need to shower, and am anxious to watch Grey's (while folding laundry!!) The girls and I are doing great and enjoying our 2 weeks of Spring Break...going from 4 babies to 2 makes a world of difference as to what can be accomplished during the day and it also gives us time to get out and about and enjoy this Hawaiian sunshine. Also, I took the girls last Sunday to have their pictures taken together. Hailey pulled her Jekyll and Hyde act and clammed up for the photographer. She was shy, but it came off very bratty/nasty. It really irritates me (and yes, I know she is barely three!)and I think I get bothered by it because it's not a cute shy, but a snotty disposition...so embarrassing. Anyway, she finally agreed to sit on the table with Kailee and we got a cute pose of them together and a few of Kailee alone. I'll have them in about one more week and get them posted on here.

Anyway, here are a gob of pictures from the past week........

The Big Girl Part II

Kailee had her first baby food tonight (not counting cereal). It was carrots...she liked them, but would make a sour face after taking a bite, yet then open her mouth for more!

The Big Girl!!!

Kailee had her first Big Girl Bath last week. She had recently been bathing IN her tub IN the big tub with Hailey, but I'm anxiously selling all the "baby stuff" as Kailee out grows it and the baby tub is the next bulky thing to go! Here she is in the bath by herself and then last night with Rylee and Hailey.

The week of firsts for Kailee continued with the purchase of her new Big Girl carseat! She isn't too big for the infant carrier, but again as I carry out my purge of baby things it was the next to go along with the matching stroller (travel system) that I never use anymore since we have the double stroller. I've wanted to sell it as a set, so I've been holding out waiting on the carrier. We don't really venture out too much and when we do, Kailee rarely stays in the carrier outside the car...she can sit in a shopping cart now or she will go in the Bjorn. The new carseat should have a blog post of it's own because I am so thrilled about it!! I LOVE Hailey's carseat that she has had since she was 7 months old (Combi Avatar) but I was having trouble finding another one in Hawaii. Recently quite a few friends of mine have purchased the Evenflo Triumph. I was trying to decide between that one and the Graco Comfort Sport (I love the girly patterns!), but once I found out that the Evenflo had two AMAZING features I was sold!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the start it has the wonderful typical features of "side impact, recline, front/rear facing, good price etc.", but it ALSO has straps that adjust without having to rethread/take apart anything AND the cover can come off to wash it WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO UNBUCKLE THE CARSEAT FROM THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would you even consider anything else??!!! If you have an infant and haven't bought the next carseat yet, this is the one to buy!!!!!!!

Here is a picture of the big girl...she had just woken up in the morning and Hailey was dying for me to put her in her seat to try it out (who am I kidding? I was too!). I'm so excited about this carseat that I asked Hailey if she would want one too and her response was, "No thanks. Mine is perfect!" Ha! She's too much and too right...I need to control myself, she doesn't need a new one! :)

Kailee Mya

Kailee is 6 months old! Wow, does time fly! I remember thinking with Hailey how I couldn't wait for her to do "the next thing"...sit up, find her pacifier at night, eat cereal, crawl, walk, etc., but with Kailee I'm finding that I don't want her to grow up too fast! :( She's my last baby and I want her to stay that way as long as possible! :) Hailey was a good baby, but slightly needier than Kailee...maybe that's why I'm content with Kailee staying little...she just goes with the flow. She's meeting her milestones at almost exactly the same time frame as Hailey. Hailey crawled at 7 1/2 months, so we'll see if Kailee follows suit especially since she watches Jackson and Brooke move around all day.

I want to get "tutu" pics of Kailee at birth, 6 months, and 1 year. She was real funny with the recent wearing of the tutu because the material is so scratchy! :)

Hailey and Kailee around the same ages...
