Red Ribbon/Zombie 5K Run

We competed in our 2nd Family 5k in October, The Red Ribbon/Zombie Fun Run.  Our last one was in Mannheim when Luke was just a few months old.  Everyone did awesome and the girls were super excited about their medals!  I love that they understand the importance of exercise and leading a healthy life and these family fun runs are perfect and rewarding for them!  The Millers (Ava and Ella) and the Greens (Andrew, Luke and Eli) and their parents also competed so it was extra fun having a buddy to run with!
The gang (minus Andrew)...Hailey with Ava and Luke; Kai with Ella and Eli
The Greens...
Pumpkin decorating before the start...yay for free pumpkins!
Getting ready to start....4,000 people participated!  We didn't really talk in too much detail about who was staying with who, but we formed our own little groups as it thinned out.  Andrew and Charlie ran together; Ava, Luke and Hailey ran/walked together; Kai and I ran/walked/scootered together; Jenny, Eli, Leevi, and our Luke walked/scootered/backpacked together; and Dawna, Kevin and Ella walked/ran together...Ella is four and finished without help!!!!  I'm curious to see how Kai could do without her scooter!  There's one in the Spring that we might enter!
The scenery along the way...it was a pretty hilly course!  I felt bad sneaking a picture of the boy in the bottom right photo, but it cracked me up! :)
Kai finished in 39 minutes!  I should have sent her along with Andrew and Charlie because I was holding her back! lol!  Hailey, Luke and Ava finished right before us...everytime we caught up, they would scream and sprint ahead! :)
Finishers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The weather couldn't have been better!!!!  Gorgeous and mid 60's!
Fun face painting...there was bouncy obstacle course and a haunted house!
Relaxin afterwards...that dog was beat! :)  Leila would have been a complete mess if we brought her!  And Luke was enjoying an after race free fruit...apples and plums (I had to cut myself off of the plums but they were soooo perfect!)
There was also a Thriller Flash Mob which the kids loved watching!
It was a long day (Hailey had a soccer game before the race) and she was out within minutes!
And she stayed asleep transferring to the house...I finally had to wake her up because it was so late in the afternoon!
