Miller Cave

We were lucky to have great 60 degree weather on the weekend, so we headed out to Miller Cave on post for a hike with our neighbors who have two kids close in age.

 Over looking the Big Piney

Not a super kid friendly hike because of steep hillsides, but it was fine once we got inside the caves!!!

I should have taken a step back when I took this picture to show the tree...it hit the roof of the cave and then started growing out!!!!

So many nooks and crannies to explore!!!!!
It was massive!

The Mulhollands!
The Macs
Next time we go we will definitely take the family picture again like the one below so you can see that we are in a cave!!!!
There was a little tunnel to the right that lead through the mountain to the other side (about 10 yards)
Kai coming out the other side!
The kids kept naming the areas...the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms!!!  They could have played house there forever!!!!!
Reports say that this cave complex was used as a Native American habitation site from 7000B.C. to 1300A.D.  Thousands of artifacts, over 40 human burials, and over 25 petroglyphs were found in the caves and many of the evidence is on display in the Smithsonian!
A bat!!!!!!
My favorite quote I read about the caves..."Take nothing but pictures; leave nothing but footprints; kill nothing but time."
It was a gorgeous, fun day!!!!!
