The long flight HOME and Happy Birthday to Leevi!

We began our journey back home to Germany at 2:30am PST...ugh!  Our flight out of Phoenix into Charlotte left at 5:30am and then our flight from Charlotte into Baltimore was cancelled and they put on us a flight a few hours later.  We were going to get a rental after we checked into BWI before our midnight flight to Germany, but after the delay it didn't really seem worth it.  Poor Leevi turned 35 while we were in the air :) and we celebrated his birthday in an airport restaurant for dinner!  :)  After traveling for over 26 hours, we finally made it to Germany on Sunday afternoon!!!!!!!!  Yes, we are crazy to have attempted that vacation with three kids (three and a half weeks starting in Ireland and ending in Arizona), but we are so thankful that they are AMAZING! :)  They give us the sense of security to even think we could pull off a vacation like that (and actually enjoy ourselves!) :)

The girls have quite possibly been on over 50 flights (including the various legs of trips) in their short little lives, but this was the first time that they were invited into the cockpit!  Too awesome!!!!  The paper Kai is hold is apparently something very important because the pilot gave it to Kai to hold for the picture! ;)
At some point during the first leg, Luke woke up on Leevi's lap and only wanted me...all three of them cuddled in looked cute, but I definitely didn't get any rest!
It's absolutely impossible to travel light with young kids...3 carseats and Leevi's golf clubs took up half the baggage, so I think we did pretty well! :)  The two red bags collapse into a small square that I packed empty to start our trip, so I'm proud of myself for only returning after shopping in the States for 2 1/2 weeks with only those extra things! :)  After ALL of the various planes, hotels, rental cars, and friend's homes, we only had two forgetful mishaps (that we know of!!!)  Leevi left his carryon bag after going through security in Phoenix and they called for him on the loud speaker and I left my iPhone on a bench once we landed back in Germany while we waited on Leevi to gather all of our luggage (thankfully someone turned it in and Leevi picked it up from the Ramstein airport a few hours later!  I wasn't even certain that that was where I had left it!  Ugh!)  We joke that at least we didn't lose a kid!!! :)
Kailee crashed on the flight into Baltimore she sleep for another good hour while we wandered the airport.
We returned on a Sunday afternoon, but Hailey didn't make it to school on Monday like I had hoped...she was up from 4-6am and I didn't have the heart to wake her up at 7:30 to get to school.  We spent that day finishing up the rest of her make up work and with a little Melatonin she got back on track pretty quickly!  The kids were definitely excited to see the Green boys!
Poor Luke had it the worst with the jet lag.  It took him over a week before he was back on a normal night schedule.  Poor thing couldn't even make it through dinner one night!
And Leila girl was happy to have us back after almost a month of her being at the dog sitter!!!!
Apparently she really missed us to put up with this torture! :)

At some point during the first week that we were home, we really celebrated Leevi's birthday with a steak dinner and yummy cake!!!
